Story Line Of The Novel

The novel tells a story of a woman called Olivia  Grayson who has built a  successful business since the age of 12. She now has four adult children.

As the children were growing up Oliver was so busy building the family business. As a career woman, she was so busy such that she would spend days and weeks away from home.

Leaving her mother and husband Joe to look after the children.

Now that her children are adults she is trying to make up for the time she missed during her children’s early years. Some of her children are still angry with her absence during their upbringing.

Each year she plans a luxury holiday for her family.  Will her children ever forgive her sins for not being present as they were growing up?

What I Thought About This Novel

I liked reading this novel, it’s well written and most mothers of today’s world can relate to the story line in this novel. It tells the struggles and the guilt that working mothers go through as they try to juggle work and family life.

Oliver is a very hard working mother she did her best to secure a brilliant future for her children but during that process, something had to give. She wasn’t very active in her children’s up bringing.

I think in today’s society most working mothers find this difficult dilemma of balancing work and family life.

Every mother wants to be present at their child school play or at their first day of school. But in most cases, many working mothers can’t be present on these special days because of work commitments.

This novel made me realise what is important in life and that is family.

It carries a message of forgiveness. I really enjoyed reading this book to the last page.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good read. If you like Danielle Steel novels you will definitely like reading this novel.
