Do you have a laundry routine that works?
As for me, it took me a long time to find a laundry routine that actually worked for my family.
This is because my family kept growing over the years.
When I started to live with my husband I just had to do his laundry and mine that was fine no problems.
Then we had our first child followed by our second child and lastly hopefully we had our third child that’s when knew I had to devise a plan to tackle our never ending laundry.
I had to adjust my laundry routines to find the one that best worked for my growing family.
Here Is How I Manage Our Dirty Laundry.
We have 3 laundry baskets which we put our dirty clothes. These baskets are labelled as:
These baskets help us sort our dirty laundry as we go this in turn saves us time when it comes to actually doing laundry.
My kids are good at sorting their clothes this way and they enjoy this.
I do a load of laundry every day except on Sunday which is my rest days.
Monday – Darks
Wednesday – Whites
Thursday – Darks
Friday – Colours
Saturday – Towels and bedding
Here Is How I Manage Our Clean Laundry.
I like to air dry our clothes rarely do I use the drying machine. I have an airer which I dry my clothes on and it works for me.
I find it easy to dry laundry as soon as the washing machine is finished, leaving the laundry in the washing machine after running a wash will create many ceases on the clothes
When we buy our clothes we usually buy non-iron clothes this leaves us with almost zero ironing to do.
I must confess I am one of those moms who don’t iron their bedding, there it goes now that you know this secret of mine please don’t judge me.
However, I make sure all of our bedding is washed once a week.
During summer months it’s easy to start a load laundry, dry it outside then fold the clothes on the same day.
However, this is not the case during winter months as I might need to leave clothes to air dry overnight.
If my laundry starts to accumulate more I tend to use the dryer to get clothes dried faster.
Putting Clothes Away
My son who is 12 years folds and put away his clothes.
I help my daughters to fold their clothes and I also fold and my clothes and my husband’s clothes and put them away.
Lost Sock Basket
We also have a basket we put lost socks.
This helps us find socks that might go missing.
I also like to go through this basket on a monthly basis to remove socks that have stayed in this basket for it might be a case of never finding the other sock.
Laundry is easy to manage if you keep on top of it.
Find a laundry routine that works for your family, stick to it and make adjustments when needed.
Over to you…
